One of the greatest April 1 stories ever.

Interesting.

I haven't seen this version before, but still vividly remember a newsreel type story from many years ago about the spaghetti crop failing. They even showed the cause of the failure, a black parasitic growth down the centre of the spaghetti strand.

I suspect the version I saw was based on this one.

Wonderful, Cath! It's years since I saw this. The Old Spaghetti Factory restaurant in The Rocks in Sydney used to have stills from this on the walls. That was back in the 70's. Mmmm...that was the first place I ever tasted a sourdough loaf, too! Thanks for bringing back so many memories.

s'funny how this particular prank from over 50 years ago is making such mention today. I hadn't heard of the story before. Yet I've seen it everywhere yesterday and today. Makes one wonder if it is in itself a prank! Now that would be clever.

No, it was a real prank. I first saw it on TV sometime in the late 60s/early 70s, as a "greatest pranks of 10 years ago" sort of thing.
